I keep talking about some good ideas for developing on WoT
1. A web of trust relay that lets anyone in (at least temporarily) for submitting a note with enough mined NIP-13 proof of work
2. To combat AI spam, a robust tagging system with stuff like a standardized tag for "met in person to verify human identity at this timestamp" so that your web of trust can have filters like "known human npubs only"

I'm getting a lot of pushback on the Bitcoin fixes war front. Since I'm being hit with a lot of strawman arguments... let me clarify:
My proposition is quite simple:
Incentives matter. Under a gold standard (or any type of hard money) rulers are incentivised to spend less on war. Under a fiat money system they are incentivised to spend more on war.
Does this mean that all fiat money governments will go to war? No. It's not the only factor in a very complex equation.
But it does mean that -ceteris paribus- you get LESS war under hard money.
A similar debate has been raging between historians over wether democracies tend to wage less war than dictatorships. This is similar, only for monetary systems.
If you agree with the above propsition and agree that Bitcoin is the hardest money ever... the only logical conclusion is that a Bitcoin standard will highly disincentivise war.

Stroomstoring in Spanje veroorzaakt door fouten in techniek en planning
De grote stroomstoring in Spanje en Portugal van eind april had een technische oorzaak. Ook zijn er fouten gemaakt in de planning. Daardoor ontstond de storing in het elektriciteitsnet, heeft de Spaanse minister Aagesen van Ecologische Transitie bekendgemaakt.
Verschillende kleine stroomstoringen in het zuiden van Spanje leidden tot een kettingreactie, waardoor een stroompiek ontstond die de storing veroorzaakte. Er was dus definitief geen sprake van een cyberaanval of buitenlandse inmenging.
De minister wijst netbeheerder Red Eléctrica en de elektriciteitscentrales aan als verantwoordelijken voor de storing. Een aantal elektriciteitscentrales die volgens de wet verplicht zijn het voltage op het stroomnetwerk te regelen, verzuimde dat te doen in de momenten voorafgaand aan de storing. Daardoor ontstond een stroompiek, die niet goed werd opgevangen.
Geen vervanging geregeld
De minister sluit niet uit dat de storing mede kwam door een gebrekkige planning bij de netbeheerder. Die had geen vervangende centrale ingeschakeld voor een centrale die die dag niet werkte. Binnen vijf seconden verloor Spanje daardoor 60 procent van zijn stroomvoorziening.
Op 28 april zaten miljoenen Spanjaarden en Portugezen vanaf 12.30 uur urenlang zonder stroom. Op twee plekken in het zuidwesten van Spanje zat er een dip in de opwekking van stroom. Een paar minuten eerder was het netwerk nog stabiel.
Door de stroomstoring raakte het luchtverkeer ontregeld en kwamen treinen en metro's stil te staan. Veel mensen konden niet thuiskomen en moesten de nacht doorbrengen op stations. Winkels moesten sluiten en evenementen werden afgebroken. Ook lag het internet stil en was er geen telefoonverkeer mogelijk. De stroomstoring kostte aan vijf mensen in Spanje het leven.
Zo zag Spanje eruit tijdens de stroomstoring:
In Portugal, waar het stroomnetwerk is gekoppeld aan het Spaanse netwerk, was de stroom 's avonds weer hersteld. In Spanje was er pas de volgende ochtend weer overal stroom.
Voorop in transitie
De landen staan juist bekend om hun stabiele elektriciteitsnetwerk. Daardoor ontstonden in de dagen na de storing allerlei theorieën over de oorzaak. Ook ontstond er discussie of de grote hoeveelheid hernieuwbare energie ermee te maken had. In de energietransitie loopt Spanje voorop. Vorig jaar werd 57 procent van de stroom er opgewekt door wind, zon en waterkrachtcentrales.

SimpleX is great, I use it. It definitely has its applications but even now is still pretty buggy. This list is for normal folks just getting into privacy.
Signal and session is just going to be easier to use and I'd rather they use session with slightly less metadata protection than nothing because they can't figure it out or it's just too difficult for them.

Correlation is actually there ..I agree .. but it is kinda "effect and cause " .. not "cause and effect" ..
Let me explain what I am saying ..
I see the deaths on road are rising ....there can be multiples CAUSES .... Say cuz people are driving faster .. or they are distracted on cell phones .. or they are over worked ....
Now here is genius idea ..
Hey why don't we limit the speed ? Sure we can make some rules .. but people are breaking the rules ..
What do we do now ?
Lets stop making better ENGINES :-) ...Cuz if we have bad engines , no one can anyway speed up the car ..
SO ..
Think of FIAT As ENGINE of modern productivity .. it unleashes industrialization at a10 x faster clips .. we can produce arms .. we can weed out poverty .. or we can go on wars ... Those choices are not those of Engine ..they are human choices ..
But we don't go on war because of fiat .. we go fight because there is something PRECIOUS out there that we want .. like oil , gold , Bitcoin , or rare earth ...
Cause is precious things and our greed .. it is not the engine !

i'm quite good at grasping subtle innuendo, especially from short statements, in context.
just saying tho, if you want to remember your dreams, try taking 500mg of tyrosine within an hour of bedtime.
high doses of melatonin also make really bizarre vivid dreams that have a lot of sense in them, i mean, nonsense, or, some other sense.

Maybe. IMO those Intel agencies are quite active on nostr. Lots of influence ops here. I've suspected you, for example. Decided probably not.
There are other possibilities. A dev on nostr could want the platform to respond to real threats, and this may be a way to accelerate development. Perhaps a rethink of how we use relays is in order. Perhaps we need to develop on the "web of trust" idea, or move to an authentication standard. Doesn't it seem like the spam attacks have grown incrementally in annoyingness? Like someone is trying to get a response, and might be a little exasperated by us not hitting the solution they want. Idk. I see patterns.

Buying good with lightning feels like a look into the future. Set Bitcoin aside, this is just a better experience than the broken legacy internet: type email address, scan QR code, click pay, done. Contrast with legacy online shopping where I have to fill out two pages of bullshit and fill out all this credit card data and if I try to use any even mildly privacy preserving options then half the time my order is flagged and canceled and it takes weeks to get a refund.
It’s taken a long time to get here, but I’m convinced we eventually win via better UX as the legacy internet just keeps breaking.

I'm mostly avoiding news these days and looking at primary history sources. Anything written by someone who didn't live through it is suspect.
I find this takes very little news to accurately predict the future. I remember people watching the news during covid and it telling me it would be over in a couple of weeks. I said 18 months from the beginning because I went and read about previous flu pandemics. No one believed me.
The people already saying that Iran will kill an American and then America will enter the war are probably doing the same thing.
For American internal politics today I recommend Tyranny by Timothy Snyder. Newer book but it is written based on primary sources like personal journals from various countries that transformed from democracy into single party fascism over the 20th century.

I'm not a fan of sats actually. I believe that posting on Nostr shouldn't be transactional. It makes me sad that many Nostr users don't believe deeper interactions are possible.
What I like about Nostr is that it's easy to make an account, but the user still owns their own keys. That means that anyone can join, and third parties can't prevent two people from finding eachother and talking with eachother if they really want to.

That does seem to be the case.
As far as social apps go, I prefer simplex over any nostr client. It's a bit more intimate. You can't escape some of the fakeness on social media and nostr has, in no way, changed that.

TRM Labsは、2024年のステーブルコイン取引の99％が合法であったと発表した。ステーブルコインは仮想通貨取引量全体の60％以上を占めており、違法利用の割合はごくわずかだった。ArtimasもB2B決済の急増を報告しており、取引の透明性や凍結機能が違法行為の抑止に貢献しているという。こうした中、包括的な規制法「GENIUS法案」が米上院に提出され、可決される見込みとなっている。この法案はライセンス制、準備金義務、監査、AML対策などを定め、米国のデジタル資産政策の転換点となるとされる。一方で、全体の違法取引におけるステーブルコインの比率は60％であり、依然としてテロ資金供与などに使用されている実態も指摘された。

Também acho que sim. Spark tem uma opção bacana que pode gerar uma invoice LN normal com informação de endereço Spark, e se a wallet de quem paga também for Spark ela vai usar Spark e não LN.
