I'm mostly avoiding news these days and looking at primary history sources. Anything written by someone who didn't live through it is suspect.
I find this takes very little news to accurately predict the future. I remember people watching the news during covid and it telling me it would be over in a couple of weeks. I said 18 months from the beginning because I went and read about previous flu pandemics. No one believed me.
The people already saying that Iran will kill an American and then America will enter the war are probably doing the same thing.
For American internal politics today I recommend Tyranny by Timothy Snyder. Newer book but it is written based on primary sources like personal journals from various countries that transformed from democracy into single party fascism over the 20th century.
