nostr:npub12gyrpse550melzx2ey69srfxlyd8svkxkg0mjcjkjr4zakqm2cnqwa3jj5 I can confirm this is also the case of v1.13.1, so it doesn’t seem to be a regression in 1.14 per say — maybe it is more noticeable because of the overlay message.
Do you know of any specific versions when this behaviour was different?
Also, nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s what would be the expected behaviour? I think we should have a setting for it, I can see different people wanting different behaviours.

Thank you nostr:npub1rzg96zjavgatsx5ch2vvtq4atatly5rvdwqgjp0utxw45zeznvyqfdkxve for the information!
Can you please confirm:
1. whether your Coinos NWC connection was working before (e.g. if zaps were working before)
2. How long ago you setup your Coinos NWC connection?
The reason I ask is that I am aware that Coinos had reset some NWC connections a few weeks ago, so those stopped working.
If you suspect that might be the case for you, can you please try setting up a second NWC connection on the Coinos website and connecting to that?

I put together an experimental relay for selective file sharing over #blossom and #nostr that allows users to upload files and selectively share them with other users, with the following features:
🚦 Uploaded files are not publicly accessible by default
🔓 Files become available only to nostr users selected by the uploader
I created this to help me experiment with the concept of collective backups and social recovery of files/photos, but thought it could be useful to other builders on the space, so I am publishing it!
Here is where you can find it (still highly experimental 🧪):
https://github.com/Leaf-Computer/blobstr-relay/
If you end up using this (or if you run into bugs), I would love to hear from you!

The sad truth is that people don't own their iPhones.
People have this illusion (myself included) that they hold their iPhone and it's an object that they own. But you can only run apps that they let you run, you can only get it fixed if they want to fix it for you, and when they find your device is too old, they throw it into obsolescence, effectively turning it into a useless brick.
People don't own iPhones. They simply rent the iPhone experience for as long as Apple wants them to.

It is stable and reliable, features built-in pubkey authentication, does not require certificate provisioning, and can establish multiple secure data channels for almost any purpose.
It sounds like an excellent protocol to build on.

Constraints are often seen as a bad thing to be overcome or complained about — but with a shift in perspective, they can often be viewed as an opportunity.
People tend to complicate things. Constraints can help by forcing one to constantly reconsider their approach and shift their focus towards fewer but more important things.
If simplicity is the highest sophistication, then constraints are the way the Universe guides you to uphold that principle.

It is an event that other clients, including Damus, should pick up.
However, I have ran into problems in the past where certain relays have outdated lists. This is more likely when removing several relays and adding new ones in their place

I haven’t noticed repeated param keys on URLs in practice, which made me form an incorrect assumption
If it works, then I agree having repeated “r” query entries is a good syntax!
-

@ 8b2be0a0:4a1208a6
2024-11-19 19:07:46
I love the idea of URLs with nostr entities and inline relay hints.
This type of URL syntax also models nostr architecture very well. Instead of specifying a host location and then the desired resource like most URLs, we specify the desired resource, and then the host locations where that could be found, which is exactly the architectural paradigm shift that defines Nostr
We probably want to double-check RFC 3986 to help define some of the details.
For example, we probably want to use “nostr:” instead of “nostr://“ because the “//“ denotes an “authority” (Section 3.2) that controls the namespace of the remainder of the URL, which would not be the case since the protocol would define the meaning of the query parameters.
Furthermore, I am not sure if we can repeat keys on the query parameters, and if it would be compatible with most URL parsing libraries. Section 3.4 of the spec doesn’t seem to forbid it, but might be good to test with major libraries. If not, maybe comma separated values on the relay hints could work as well
cc nostr:npub1ye5ptcxfyyxl5vjvdjar2ua3f0hynkjzpx552mu5snj3qmx5pzjscpknpr I think this type of URL syntax would work well on Blossom too

Hi nostr:npub1qdsjkr46urkg6vqrr3zqhgy8l7dazc5k9hlm5jmwqg0vft7hzgtqamgfw3 The translation feature only activates for languages that are not configured as a preferred language in iOS.
You can check and modify your preferred language settings in the iOS settings app > General > Language & Region > Preferred Languages
I believe it’s possible that adding an international keyboard might have also added that language as a preferred language automatically, but you should be able to tweak those iOS settings independently (e.g. I have a Japanese keyboard on mine, but I have removed Japanese from my preferred languages list)

nostr:npub1az9xj85cmxv8e9j9y80lvqp97crsqdu2fpu3srwthd99qfu9qsgstam8y8, it might be early, but what’s the best way to get started? Can I decide on a topic for a first article and talk to you about it before starting to write, to ensure it’s within scope? Are there any guidelines/resources I should read before getting started?

Awesome! I don’t have much free time, but I’d be interested in doing occasional writing about Nostr and self-hosting technology for your publication.

Would Bitcoin-adjacent topics like Nostr or self-hosting technology be part of the scope for this publication?
And beyond somebody to run the publication, are you also looking for occasional writing submissions?

True! I wonder if anyone has implemented NAT traversal using Nostr, or if it’s still something theoretical?

NextCloud is a nice way to get a “cloud-like” experience on a home server you control. It has a familiar UI that makes it a nice choice if you want to help onboard a family member or friend who is less technical into your home server.
Unfortunately, I find many setups and tutorials to be non-ideal (e.g. Missing HTTPS support, unclear configuration, spread-out data, lack of backups, etc).
So I wrote a guide that (I believe) solves a lot of these issues. If you are looking to improve your NextCloud setup, this might be an interesting read!
https://homeserver.guide/Doing+cool+stuff/Setting+up+NextCloud+on+NixOS+with+HTTPS%2C+Tailscale%2C+and+backups
I am open for questions and suggestions! If you do give it a read, I would love to hear your thoughts. I will zap the best comments! 🤙⚡️

Wouldn’t the ones that are related to eavesdropping of electromagnetic emissions also apply to any electronics, such as (at least some) hardware wallets? How does Coldcard prevent this type of attack?
