He can move the NIP-05 association to the new one, and you're back in business and the imposter has a profile with a big ❌ on it or has to remove the NIP-05. And your internal systems can immediately react on that, as the npub+NIP-05 combination works like an e-mail+password combination.
All of our company npubs have a GitCitadel.com domain. If one gets burnt, we can easily switch and announce the new location.

Now let's look at intensity. The hard money argument states that under fiat money wars are longer, larger and more devastating. That belligerents unrestricted by hard money budgeting are willing to suffer much more, spend much more and lose more people in wars, as well as being more willing to go to war.
The US case clearly shows this trend.
Of course this is neither comprehensive not definitive... you could argue that causation is the inverse, ie: the tougher the war the likelier it is that govt. will abandon gold.

I understand what the developers are saying. They are saying that the free relays are needed for new users.
In order for Nostr to grow you need free relays because if you don't. Then users don't want to spend time researching how to pay for a relay especially if they don't have a lightning address.
In a way it makes a bit of sense.
We can just tell users to move onto paid relays once they are comfortable on Nostr. It doesn't affect me too much. It's the free relays administrators that have to put up with that nonsense. Let them take the pain. zmy relay will continue to be paid. I don't like headaches.

I think this is where WoT comes in, as new users generally have some nexus of another user. They could inherit some of the PoW of people who follow them, and the PoW can be some background process that doesn't effect UX too much. The key is making the marginal cost of a new npub higher than spammers are willing to bear. If it costs $0.10 of compute per npub, spammers might make several but will give up when those are easily filtered out.

Helpful, and that is a form of what Amethyst does. However, it requires a number of people within a user's community to see and report the spam before it will be hidden. Not ideal.
The preference would be that NO ONE has to see it, particularly for the worst types of unwanted notes.

We have the tools with proof of work to mitigate the worst of spam. There is already a NIP to add PoW to notes, but that makes UX for normal use quite degraded. But what if we only had to do it occasionally? Let's say my profile contains a reference to a note on which I included PoW. Clients then could filter out users by which have shown a certain level of PoW, which if set high enough would make these spam attacks unfeasible.

It is. The whole idea is to connect to or operate relays that align with your preferences. The things that make nostr censorship resistant also enable tight censorship on a small scale with the option to opt out. It's about keeping the exits open. That point is lost when relays are hidden and keys are obscured away, though. Trying to dumb it down rather than leaning into unique possibilities, I believe, is hurting more than helping. People are dealing with these things they need but don't understand and are told they don't need to think about them until they do, which is usually when something bad is happening. They could instead be exploring fun options and learning how to manage those bad situations in the process. There's just very few ways to interact on the protocol like that right now, because who wants to build half a bridge and hope someone else will build the other half? That would be terribly frustrating.

It's checked against an organisational domain server, like an e-mail server, rather than a list of npubs. Npubs who show up with a particular domain get categorized for everyone looking at the client, and the community client defines which domains are significant. You could even change the interface depending upon which domain they belong to. It's a group adherance.
Badges are for roles. They signify something about some particular person, within a community or across communities.
You can use either for both, or split them up.

Good point.
So there are 2 concerns, the relay operator (me) and users of the relay.
I can and will add terms limiting how data on the relay can be used by readers.
For the relay operator part, it gets complicated.
While I do not intend on training LLMs or sell it to people that do so, I am intending to do my own ML models for content moderation. So I am not sure how to word it in a way that wouldn’t end up being in a gray area.
There’s also the fact that other relays would have to enforce the same policy as well.

indeed, that's why i'm going to go independent, build out the back end infrastructure and then save my funds to build out a decent proof of concept front end web app. or maybe i'll figure out a better strategy involving flutter.
this thing about not being able to make one UI codebase for mobile and desktop is bullshit in my opinion. i created a responsive layout for a PoW crypto web app that was acceptable and even not only between mobile dimensions (very small mobile like 800x480 display) it also scaled up to 4k. so idk what these people are talking about lol. lazy, is what i'd call it.
