general news is a fairly substantial uptick in solar splodey things, looks like we are gonna be in for more minor electrical and internet glitches for a little while.
the most interesting thing tho was they have discovered some kind of radio signal coming from under the ice of antarctica.
i wonder just how much they know about what's under the surface on that massive continent. it's about the size of australia, and has been probably under the ice for 6000 years. could it be there is a remnant of old atlantean tech, that is being powered up by the weakening magnetic field? if my understanding of how well they knew about the disaster cycle and electromagnetic phenomena, my guess is they built something there specifically for this purpose. possibly the EMF it's emitting is incidental to its real purpose, which is probably a beacon to signal the coming of the shift, and maybe it also serves as a communication and/or power system that they will be deploying when they arrive through a wormhole or whatever tech it is they already had back then.
it will be interesting to see if they can pinpoint the source and dig into the ice to figure out what is causing it. i mean, it could just be a random formation of rock but my guess is it's "man made" or i would say "angel made" and is there for a very specific purpose.

normies understand DNS. as she describes, indeed, i think that DNS arose in teh context of or with heavy influence from academia. medschlr is something aimed at students, scholars and practitioners of medicine.
badges sorta seems like it's emphasising status or credentials over role. but the principle is the same, lists of roles. i can see how the status thing can have an impact. i used to hang out on The Hive back in the day, before it got shut down in 2005, and they had "karma" which was a kind of "underground researcher credential". i had a fair bit of it, but i was probably middle of the field. i didn't have the resources or balls to get into the actual marketplace and get paid more because i was in the process of meeting such people around that time and one regaled me with a story of being asked to dispose of evidence of murder. i freaked the fuck out of course. probably turned me from that direction as street chemist in fact.

yes, open membership means there is always a privacy vulnerability. direct messages can only be breached by one out of two but the more you put on the denominator the lower the chances of keeping it private
IMO, it's a fool's errand, outside of the business or affinity group context. better to make it public to read, auth to write, then you can control spam simply by whitelists, which are much cheaper to implement than blacklists and complex shit like spam recognisers.

going to just leave it on him for a week or so so he gets used to wearing it first, and when the sun comes out i'm gonna take him for a walk up the caminho, away from places where he might pick up ticks or more nasty parasites.
it was funny, right after i put it on him, he turned all smoochy and wanted lap time and was face-bumping hard against me and purring his head off, tail not wagging very much. feels like he has an intuition that this harness means he will get some sunshine.
i'm betting that giving him some sunshine, and me also getting some, is going to improve our health a lot.
i'm starting to get a lot better now, losing weight, i can feel more strength in my abdominals now and the cramping problems are reducing. hopefully for him it will reduce his vulnerability to the ear mites and help him clear out the congestion in his lungs. getting air purifiers in the house also has been important. the cat litters are so dusty they make me cough and he's right in it doing his business.
i wish i could get the recycled paper type like i used to use with my cats in australia. almost no dust, high absorbency and easy handling and disposal.
silica litter is practically essential if the cat is female, because it catches all the wee smell, female cats tend to refuse to do their poopies in a tray that smells like wee, but male cats are a lot less fussy.

An odd thing happened to financial markets when Israel bombed Iranian nuclear sites last week.
For the most part, the moves were what you would have expected: Stocks fell worldwide and U.S. benchmark crude jumped 7.3% Friday, wrapping up its biggest weekly gain since the Oct. 7, 2023, massacre in Israel. Meanwhile, the price of gold, a traditional haven in times of conflict, rose 1.5% to a record.
But gold’s supposed digital equivalent failed to play the same role. Bitcoin fell by 1.6% Friday, even more than the S&P 500, concluding a 4% drop over three days.
This isn’t the first time: Back in April, in the week following President Trump’s “Liberation Day” announcement, stocks swooned worldwide. Bitcoin did too, dropping 7.5% in six days. And it was directionless in February 2022 as Russian troops massed on Ukraine’s border and then invaded. Gold, meanwhile, edged higher as tensions rose and kept climbing when the shooting began.
It is tempting to gloss over bitcoin’s failures as a hedge against chaos in what has otherwise been a great year for cryptocurrencies. The U.S. government has gone from skepticism to a full-throated endorsement under the Trump administration.
Even if it has lost some antiestablishment street cred, bitcoin still shares qualities with gold. Its supply is limited, it is a trustless asset, it can’t be destroyed and it is even easier than gold to transfer or hide.
So why has it failed as a geopolitical insurance policy? One reason is bitcoin’s digital nature. If you were to find yourself sitting in the smoldering ruins of your town after society collapsed, cryptocurrency at a brokerage like Coinbase, or even on a thumb drive in your pocket, wouldn’t be useful. Physical gold still might.
Another reason is why most people buy crypto lately: It excites speculators in ways gold doesn’t. In the past five years, bitcoin has become positively correlated with stocks, notes CME Group.
When investors are in a risk-on mood these days, they especially feel like buying cryptocurrency or other assets with little in the way of intrinsic value such as meme stocks. It’s the “number go up” trade.
Yet bitcoin could shine as brightly as gold in one calamity on investors’ minds lately: a loss of faith in fiat currencies like the dollar. Rising government indebtedness worldwide might make inflation the easiest way out, boosting assets that are nobody’s liability.
So while bitcoin doesn’t seem to be an all-weather insurance policy, at least it has a lot more upside if things go very right instead of very wrong. What other asset appeals to both extreme pessimists and optimists?

I feel you man: social context, I ask lots of question to the person (because I’m curious and because that’s how you conversate with someone) but they don’t ask any question in return!
Once I was at dinner with my girlfriend and another couple, without exaggerating, out of 3 hours the other couple talked 2 hours and 45 minutes, and they did not ask a single question to neither me or my girlfriend, not 1 question in 3 hours, I’m still shocked!!!
Being humble is certainly not a weakness, you have kept your sanity in this crazy world where ppl have lost the capacity to take interest in others and are only focused on themselves.
Crazy times if listening and asking questions can be perceived as weakness. Don’t let the mass make you doubt yourself, stay strong my friend!!
