Speaking of compromised nsecs, I was just chatting with a dev and discussing how nice it would be to have a client that we could rig up an external hardware signer too… so individuals could have one v secure npub used specifically with a client that gives early mailing list vibes the more we integrate bitcoin prs into nostr
Then you could link that npub to your social npub and your social npub would be used more experimentally- a person could even use ephemeral keys for other types of clients, different key pairs for different use cases

Many on here will not like this because they’ve been told not to.
However, decentralized permissionless indexable time-locked data can be GREAT for Nostr: where we struggle to anchor a shared truth to a timeline for important events. This opens up the possibility of time locked consensus for important json.
Any of you had your nsecs compromised recently? With proper coordination among clients, recovery solutions are now on the table that don’t require centralized services. That’s just one important idea among many.
Super bullish for Nostr.

Sorry, but today the sun is not out for Bitcoin.
A few Core Devs gaslit and steamrolled their way into merging a pull request that was vehemently opposed and not even well-supported by "Core Devs" at large.
Rather than showing the clear opposition (the "nays" / NACKs) as was usual for prior PRs the summary was changed to only show the "ayes" (ACKs). This disingenuous move made it look like the PR was entirely supported. Amazingly, after approving, the PR now shows the ACKs AND NACKs.
Reading through the details in the PR shows a very different story.

Is this the day Bitcoin begins to die? I surely hope not (although "hope" was a word used repeatedly as reasoning for why this PR would actually benefit Bitcoin, as in "we hope this will work").
FWIW, 3% of Core Devs wrote an open letter expressing their opinion (obviously having permission to the Core website), with little-to-no proper debate that includes the majority in dissent.
It's time to take a serious look at the Bitcoin Core process before it becomes a worldwide virtual government organization. Who is paying Gloria Zhao (Chaincode)? Who is paying Peter Todd as he defends Citrea as the primary use case for the change, citing concerns for "millions of dollars of [VC] funding" (his words), and appeasing large mining companies?
How are we not seriously concerned about this? "GM" has now replaced "how 'bout that game last night".

Instead of writing retarded letters to retarded devs - some of whom allegedly don’t even run their own full nodes - you’d better start appealing to pleb node runners if you hope to follow through with your proposal. A few pieces of advice for your next letter, if you aim for it to be less retarded:
1. Read the room when you post it. Given the fuckery of shitcoin Core, maybe now’s not the best time.
2. Calling Bitcoin a “scarce, censorship-resistant store of value” instead of “money” implies one of two things: you’re either economically illiterate or a bad actor pushing a narrative.

In retrospect, it was obvious the letter they signed was justification to merge a clearly controversial PR. It's not obvious what the second and third order effects will be, but I guarantee this will not play out the way that the signers of the letter think it will.
Happy to eat my words and say that I was wrong if a year from now if there isn't a significant growth (>100%) in large OP_RETURN outputs (>160 bytes).
I challenge any signer of the letter to provide a similar metric to measure whether what they're doing works and under what conditions they'd be willing to admit they were wrong.

I made home liqueur for the first time and it's a great success! 😄 Made it from spruce tips and blueberry liquor, I also added fennel seeds for some extra flavour as I like to experiment with recipes. It's absolutely delicious, if I may say so myself. 😅 A nice balance of sweetness, burn and levels of flavour. So I've decided to go for another round, this time with lemon balm from the garden. It will be ready in two weeks.

I know it’s popular to be all-in on moral panic these days, but I think Bitcoin is in a good technical place right now. I’m bullish.
I think Core devs are doing good work. And I’m glad that people can run Knots or otherwise fork if they don’t like Core. That’s part of what makes Bitcoin robust, and gives useful market/adoption signals.
Mining pool centralization isn’t great, but there are plenty of optional tools to use more if it interferes more with the network, and economic signals (eg the possibility of high fees for censored transactions) exist for precisely that context, to help it get unstuck if it gets stuck.
I think current functionality is great, but I also think CTV+CSFS is a sensible upgrade on top of that if folks end up coalescing around it.

The OP_RETURN debate can be boiled down to 2 definitions of monetary txs. One group defines "monetary" as willingness to pay for blockspace. The other defines it as transferring UTXO ownership, facilitated by blockspace.
Although miners are incentivized to include txs that serve the former definition, Bitcoin was engineered to facilitate the latter. Let's not forget that.
