i just let the AI write a simple algorithm. what it is actually is you XOR the two hashes and then walk through them and precisely what i said, right shift them 1 at a time and add to a counter for each of the first (right most) bits that appear. XOR between two bytes the result is the bits that are set are the ones that are not the same between, if they are the same, then it puts a zero.

I believe every user will have his own client etc. there will be no company behind anymore. The user might say I like Damus but I want xyz on top and I only want to see bitcoin related content. Then AI will fork and modiy and it's done. Maybe there will even be ways to harden the core of the app and and give ai only access to ui elements, so people could even start "designing" their bitcoin wallets as they like etc. Let's see maybe I'm wrong 😄

https://github.com/mleku/nilsimsa since i'm in idle mode and have a bit of a big task to do writing a set of unit tests on my new event database search (i implemented standard nip-01 filter to start) i decided to play around with something else TLSH implementation was busted, and the design of the function is a bit shitty in that it requires 256 bytes minimum. it was said to be better as it has less false positives but i just couldn't get the thing to compile and couldn't understand the cryptic hashfunction style logic with single letter names on everything. Nilsimsa hashes are a lot simpler and have a minimum of 5 characters of text to compare. it works by sliding through the text and generating "trigrams" out of it which then add into an accumulator. the part i haven't written yet is the bitwise comparison that counts the number of bits in common between two output hashes. this is what i'm going to spend the next little bit playing with. i have some idea of how to do it with a power of two series 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 but this seems suboptimal. i feel like it should first just compare the two hashes byte by byte and then only count the bytes that differ. but maybe that won't work any better. so i'll probably just implement the primitive form... yeah, the primitive form would be to have two registers for each, bitwise AND them against 1 and then right shift (divide by 2) and do that for 8 steps. maybe the power of two series would actually be less operations. in fact, it may be better to just make a lookup table of a byte to a string of 10101010s and just walk those transformed versions to count the differences. i have this idea that it really should be a value 0-256 as the count of bits difference between the nilsimsa hash of two pieces of text. 0 means the same text (probably) and 256 probably i don't need to mention that one because that's the straight XOR of the text hash, idk. i won't use a byte to represent it, just a plain int, which usually means 64 bits.
