Yeah, it's a normal thing. When the population growth begins to run wild, the "Let's Eat the Babies" or "Let's Sacrifice Warriors to the Gods" people come out.
They seem to be a natural part of the boom/bust population cycle, to be honest. They create the hysteria that begins to depress fertility. So, it's ironic, as they're hysterical because they think fertility can't be suppressed.

Hmm.
I have "recompute feed periodically" on (every 8 seconds. the default) and when something is new it gives a "Show new updates" link.
For me, recomputing happens so fast there usually isn't even a single frame where the text is printed.
I suppose if recomputing happens more frequently, and if it takes a long time to recompute, then having these rendered on top of each other would be bad. I've just never seen that myself.

i do really wonder what is in the minds of these people because i know that they knew about this disaster cycle, that it wasn't just some story in genesis about a flood, in literally every folk history across the world are records of this event and not only that, but the events prior to that and tons of evidence in rocks that prove that the earth's magnetic pole was elsewhere prior to the last 5000 years
i think it's gotta be just a mentality of decay, and during times of decay, the wishes of the most morbid come to fruitition

Their main error was in assuming that they knew at which point humans would begin to reduce their numbers, so when they calculated a much-smaller number, they freaked out that humans kept right on increasing past that and assumed it would just never reverse, and we'd need more planets. Meltdown ensued.
But, now, it's beginning to slow and eventually reverse, and they look sorta stupid.
They never considered the fact that more and more humans could be sustained by the same amount of Earth, through technological progress. Malthus didn't foresee that, but neither did they.
They also thought we would quickly run out of oil and now there's a glut of oil and prices are collapsing.
