Yes, when you use a hardware wallet to perform transactions, your private key never connects to the internet.
Specifically:
1. The private key is securely stored inside the hardware wallet and never leaves the device.
2. When you want to send BTC (or other coins), an unsigned transaction is created on your computer or mobile app.

It's worth remembering that OP_RETURN doesn't actually bloat the utxo set. If we could get the spammers to use it instead of bloating the utxo set by capitalizing on the segwit discount, we likely should consider doing so. But that'd involve a change to consensus rules given how the segwith discount currently works.
Not to defend a removal of the limit on OP_RETURN. Or rather, the enforced non-limit. My node, my mempool policy. If core devs don't like it, they can expect to lose market share, and hopefully, expect more would be devs to consider alternative projects.

This is a common issue.
Your scenario lays out the question to be answered. Chase more or move closer?
I’ve seen a lot of business owners come to me thinking they want one thing but after a short bit together it’s clear that was just the only option they saw.
I’d recommend getting ultra clear on what it is you want.
Map out the life you envision, put a price tag and timeline on it. Then calculate if it’s achievable was what rate of return (I like 15%, 30%, and 70% CAGRS)
Once I know the math I can see if my envisioned life is attainable and required capital to reach it in my desired time.
You ask “do I want to come out really wealthy”…well what is that number? Does it solve the problem you are going after (your vision)? and do you even need to work 10-20 years to make it happen?
Maybe you only need to hunker down for 5…or maybe it’ll take 30…
Seeking wealth is not solvable as it’s a multi variable equation. You have to lock in on what you want, cost, and timeline…then do the math.
You may find you don’t want to be financially “wealthy” anymore because the family and future you envision won’t cost as much as you think…or you may need to be financially wealthy in fiat terms becasue the life you envision is going to cost a lot monetarily…
You have to create a solvable problem…
P.S. I tend to like both/and solutions as bias
1. Most amount of options
2. Least effort (on a risk adjusted basis)
3. Least risk

I personally don't dedicate ram, processing power, and electricity so that I can store and forward jpegs (potentially of questionable content) for spammers. I do it so I can help maintain the most perfect monetary system the world has ever yet seen.
That said, I'd rather they use OP_RETURN than bloat the UTXO set. However, they won't, because of the segwit discount.
At the end of the day the OP_RETURN limit isn't about what ends up in the chain anyway; it's about who gets to decide what my node's mempool policy is going to be. That is, what I'M going to use MY resources for in order to assist in getting it proliferated across the network. I've no delusions that running Knots will stop anything from getting on the chain. But it will remind the spammers they're not welcome, and it will make them expend more energy to get it included. And it won't cost me a dime to do so.

Will it work with my private LND node that I’m already pointed to in Zeus? That node custodies the on chain and LN funds that I’d like to swap back and forth. I don’t see a swap option (iPhone) but it’s also possible I’m not running the latest version of the app. I’d better make sure I’m running current version.
