The Post-Save Response is the goaltender’s recovery after the initial save attempt. While the Shot Preparation focuses on establishing position, the Post-Save Response phase focuses on regaining position.
At the core of each phase of the Save Process is the concept of position. The stronger a goaltender’s position is, the more likely they are to make a save.
At his age, the goalies who are best at putting themselves in position will always play on the top teams.
General tip: If he genuinely loves being a goalie, encourage him to chase it as far as he can.
There’s no lifestyle quite like being an NHL player. People will try to talk him out of it by saying things like:
“There are only 62 goalie spots in the NHL.”
“There are fewer NHL goalies than S&P 500 CEOs.”
Sure, it’s tough. But someone has to do it... so why not you?
