４月２１日夜、青森市の「ローソン浪岡福田店」店長のへニー・スシラワティーさん（４５）（インドネシア出身）は、レジにプリペイドカード２枚を持ってきた高齢の男性客の対応にあたった。
カードの額は計１８万円。「何の支払いですか」と優しく尋ねると、男性は落ち着いた様子で「パソコンがウイルスに感染した。修理のために買わないといけない」と答えた。
男性は何度も来店している常連客だった。だが来店時間がいつもは朝だったことや、購入歴のないカードを買おうとしていたことから「詐欺だ」と直感した。詐欺かどうか確認するよう何度も声をかけたが、男性は「詐欺じゃないよ。パソコンを直さないと」と笑顔で返し、店を後にした。
「止めきれなかったが不安な気持ちが残っていた」とヘニーさん。男性の退店後、すぐに青森南署に通報した。警察は防犯カメラなどから男性の自宅を特定して訪問。その場で説得して被害を防いだ。
初めて詐欺被害を阻止したというヘニーさんは「自分が詐欺を止められて本当にうれしい。幅広い年代へ詐欺に気を付けるよう伝えていく」と意気込んだ。
この５日前の４月１６日には、弘前茂森町郵便局（弘前市）で、「通帳の残高を全額下ろしてください」と焦った様子の８０歳代女性に、窓口の職員や局長が対応した。女性が「東京の警察官を名乗る人物から指示された」と説明したため、職員らが詐欺の可能性を指摘し、警察官の到着まで引き留めて被害を阻止した。

LOCRO IS A TRADITIONAL ARGENTINE DISH MADE WITH CORN, BEANS, AND MEAT OR VEGETABLES. HERE'S A RECIPE FOR A DELICIOUS AND HEARTY LOCRO THAT SERVES 4-6 PEOPLE. YOU CAN EASILY SCALE IT UP OR DOWN TO SERVE 5, 6, 8, OR 10 PEOPLE.
INGREDIENTS:
* 1 POUND DRIED WHITE CORN KERNELS (ABOUT 2 CUPS)
* 1 POUND DRIED KIDNEY BEANS, SOAKED OVERNIGHT AND DRAINED (ABOUT 2 CUPS)
* 1 POUND BEEF OR PORK, CUT INTO SMALL PIECES
* 1 ONION, CHOPPED
* 2 CLOVES GARLIC, MINCED
* 1 RED BELL PEPPER, CHOPPED
* 1 CAN (14.5 OZ) DICED TOMATOES
* 2 CUPS BEEF BROTH
* 1 TEASPOON GROUND CUMIN
* 1 TEASPOON PAPRIKA
* SALT AND PEPPER, TO TASTE
* 2 TABLESPOONS VEGETABLE OIL
* 2 CUPS CHOPPED FRESH CILANTRO (OPTIONAL)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. RINSE THE CORN KERNELS AND SOAK THEM IN WATER FOR AT LEAST 4 HOURS OR OVERNIGHT. DRAIN AND SET ASIDE.
2. IN A LARGE POT, HEAT THE OIL OVER MEDIUM HEAT. ADD THE ONION AND COOK UNTIL SOFTENED, ABOUT 5 MINUTES.
3. ADD THE GARLIC AND COOK FOR 1 MINUTE.
4. ADD THE BEEF OR PORK AND COOK UNTIL BROWNED, BREAKING IT UP WITH A SPOON AS IT COOKS.
5. ADD THE BELL PEPPER AND COOK UNTIL TENDER.
6. ADD THE SOAKED AND DRAINED CORN KERNELS, BEANS, DICED TOMATOES, BEEF BROTH, CUMIN, PAPRIKA, SALT, AND PEPPER. STIR WELL.
7. BRING THE MIXTURE TO A BOIL, THEN REDUCE THE HEAT TO LOW AND SIMMER, COVERED, FOR 1 HOUR OR UNTIL THE CORN IS TENDER.
