On a related note, I was thinking recently about why the face cloth was folded up and separated from the rest of Christ's linen cloths after his resurrection. There is a typological connection to when he raised Lazarus. But it also strikes me as a way of representing that first the head rises and then the body. Put another way, Christ the head rises first, returns to Heaven, and the body will join him again, member by member for a time as we each depart in our own time, but then in full at the Resurrection and final consummation of history.

"Take a few days off & figure your trauma out at home" is an irresponsible response to this event frim the airport. Much safer for everyone involved including passengers to have them cleared before they return, so that's what I assumed. I guess given all this, the airport may just be the kind that would simply take the ATC workers at their word about their trauma recovery. 🙄

So in the spirit of helpfulness and transparency here’s a portrait of who i was ten years ago to the best of my recollection.
- I was working my ass off trying to build my company
- I was focused to the point of over obsession on obtaining wealth
- I was extreme in my worldview, thoughts and actions and I demanded that others get on board or get left behind.
- I was willing to go out on my own and risk failure/rejection/embarrassment etc…
- I didn’t have a plan B. It was kill or be killed.
- I was willing to (and did) destroy relationships in the pursuit of growth.
- I was cocky and arrogant (mainly as a defense mechanism).
- I constantly inhaled information. Books/podcasts/news/private conversations etc…
- constant focus on learning, getting better etc…
- I was ruthlessly self critical, I would ruminate on every mistake no matter how small for months.
- I took big risks
- I went all in
- I met as many new people as I could
- I did not agree to disagree, I was out to win. Every single interaction.
- I made enemies
- I was shamed/ridiculed for my extreme behaviors (riding a moped etc…)
- I lived well below my means
- I kept doubling down on myself
- I got rid of the people who weren’t interested in growth, I pulled along others against their will.
- I had a savior complex and thought it was my duty to save everyone I met.
- I had a misplaced sense of loyalty and was loyal to the wrong people at times.
- I made dumb mistakes
- I let ego get in my way
- I never quit
- I showed up everyday and worked/learned even when it didn’t seem like anything was happening
- I fought anyone who got in my way
- I had extremely long term goals and aspirations and was willing to sacrifice and endure pain in the short term in order to meet them.
- I relentlessly battled my own self doubt which was a constant
- went against the wishes of my father and extended family
- went against the desires of my fiance (now wife) who eventually came to see things my way
Basically I was a young man who was willing to tear himself and everyone else around him to pieces in order to win. I’m not saying this was a good thing. I’m just saying this is how I was then.

The Georgia Senate race took a crazy turn this week when Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp declared that he will NOT run for Senate next year, which could have made the race against Jon Ossoff even more competitive. Republicans were not super happy, as he was a solid candidate for them to run since he already has a very solid reputation in the state that he has led for years. Republicans in Congress were hoping to flip the seat in 2026. Kemp cannot run for Governor (he is time limited prevented), but he still decided not to seek higher office. Kemp can see the MAGA writing on the wall. He put out a statement on Monday saying: "I spoke with President Trump and Senate leadership earlier today and expressed my commitment to work alongside them to ensure we have a strong Republican nominee who can win next November, and ultimately be a conservative voice in the US Senate who will put hardworking Georgians first." His choice opens up the primary to a few other well known Republicans, including Marge Three Toes. She told NBC News last week that she has "a lot of options open to me" but would not discuss it further. Can Congress handle Senator Greene and her batshit craziness in the SENATE? I do not think so. But, I would enjoy a debate between Ossoff and Greene. That would make for some true insanity. read more

Truman aircraft carrier has been lost in the Red Sea, the second jet lost from the carrier in just over a week, five people familiar with the matter told CNN. It is not entirely clear what happened yet, as the investigation is ongoing, but two of the people said there was some kind of arrestment failure as the jet was trying to land on the carrier and the pilot and weapons systems officer had to eject. They were recovered by a rescue helicopter and are both alive, but they suffered minor injuries, one of the people said. I loooove Japan. It’s clean, safe, and beautiful. The culture is so crafty and thoughtful in every detail. Japanese cuisine has always been my favorite—both to eat and to cook. I love it so much that I could literally eat ramen every day.
But I do feel like Japan is a bit trapped in the ’80s—kind of stuck in that city pop era. I don’t really feel the bright, youthful energy, which makes me feel a little gray sometimes. Don’t get me wrong, though—I love the city pop vibe. I grew up influenced by Japanese culture—anime, J-pop, J-rock—and I still love it to this day.
Kanazawa is where I had the best sushi of my life. I remember it as clearly as if it were yesterday. It was a winter night, and snow was falling. We were so tired from traveling, and at the train station, my husband’s host family—whom he stayed with as an exchange student 20 years ago—was waiting for us. They took us to a small hole-in-the-wall place, but the sushi was so good it brought a tear of joy to my eye. The fresh fish, the flavors and texture of the rice, the shoyu, the sake, the matcha—and the people we shared the meal with—it was unforgettable.
If I visit Japan again, I’ll definitely dive deeper into the culture—cooking (of course), calligraphy, knife making, all the ceremonial traditions. And I definitely want to see a sumo match!
