On a related note, I was thinking recently about why the face cloth was folded up and separated from the rest of Christ's linen cloths after his resurrection. There is a typological connection to when he raised Lazarus. But it also strikes me as a way of representing that first the head rises and then the body. Put another way, Christ the head rises first, returns to Heaven, and the body will join him again, member by member for a time as we each depart in our own time, but then in full at the Resurrection and final consummation of history.
