Just saw The Amateur—an entertaining spy thriller with a cerebral twist. Rami Malek plays the role of a CIA cryptographer. The plot stretches believability at times, but remains engaging.
It had also some whitewashing for the CIA that I didn’t like, but hey, who expects a mainstream movie to glorify whistleblowers?
All said, it's a gripping narrative that keeps you hooked. If you're after entertainment, it's worth a watch. I'd rate it 6 out of 10.

You’d think that in a Bitcoin-heavy network like this one, there’d be at least a few people seriously interested in actually living on the Bitcoin standard. Like, zero money in the bank, cutting ties with banks completely. But nope. Almost no one here really cares about that. At least not in Europe. Everyone just wants to get rich in fiat and then go live some “good” (=hedonistic) life. Bunch of clowns. I’ve got nothing in common with you.
How do I know that? Well, recently I came across something that actually brings us a good step closer to that goal. And I didn’t read about it anywhere, I had to dig it up myself and pry it out of the providers. So yeah, I’ll quietly add it to my consulting toolkit and only share it with people who are actually interested in freedom.

I think these "starter packs" are a really good idea.
Seems like something that a combination of AI crawling relays to gather semantic data on certain note "kinds" and WoT would be good for. Like a semantic "score" plus some combination of WoT score on authors along with "view" data on the notes the materials are in. That could do some of the heavy lifting and then refinement of the packs done over time by the users.
Just thinking out loud, don't mind me.

They’ve got $70 in their checking account, a $2,500 balance on a Capital One card with a 31.99% APR, and they’re trying to raise three kids on expired cereal and motivational quotes printed on tea towels.
But sure - let’s keep pretending this is the greatest country on Earth.
“Just buy a home!” they said.
Yeah, with what? Pocket lint and unfulfilled dreams?
Housing prices have done more blow than Hunter Biden.
The median home is now a seven-figure shrine to despair that comes with a $4,000 mortgage and a nest of wasps in the attic.
And then you’ve got your 401(k), which is essentially a rigged Chuck E. Cheese arcade.
The returns are fake, the prizes suck, and the whole thing ends when the Fed spins the money printer like a DJ with Parkinson’s.
And let’s not even talk about Social Security. By the time Gen Z hits retirement age, they’ll be getting their benefits in Arby’s coupons.
So what’s the plan, America? Just keep voting for whichever ventriloquist dummy is least drooling on the mic while the Federal Reserve slurps your savings into a black hole of monetary fraud?
ENTER: BITCOIN.
Bitcoin is not a tech stock. It’s not a scam.
It’s not some NFT your cousin Chad made of a monkey vaping.
Bitcoin is the last goddamn exit ramp off this flaming clown car of fiat despair.
Bitcoin is monetized truth. It’s thermodynamic capital. It is time - compressed, encrypted, and immutably etched into the fabric of cyberspace with the wrath of a vengeful God who finally got sick of your bank overdraft fees.
While your local bank is busy locking you out of your $120 savings account for “unusual activity” because you bought gas and a sandwich in the same hour, Bitcoin doesn’t ask questions.
It doesn’t inflate your money supply by 40% and then blame you for “not budgeting correctly.” It just works.
There are no bailouts in Bitcoin. No lobbyists. No Jerome. No Wall Street Muppets pulling liquidity levers while you sit on hold with Wells Fargo wondering why your rent check bounced.
Bitcoin is the vault, and it’s open to anyone smart enough to realize the old system is the Titanic and the iceberg was 2008.
And don’t give me that “government will ban it” nonsense. These people can’t even ban TikTok without holding twelve hearings and a séance.
You think they’re going to stop a decentralized, borderless monetary network defended by every disillusioned coder, cyberpunk libertarian, and Venezuelan grandma with a smartphone?
No. Bitcoin will eat them. Just like it’ll eat the dollar, the banks, and the hollowed-out husk of American middle-class life that now resembles a gas station sushi roll with a mortgage.
You want dignity? You want sovereignty?
You want to actually own something that doesn’t decay like your quality of life?
Then get off fiat. Get out of the clown car. Buy Bitcoin.
Or keep believing in the dream while eating expired ravioli and Googling “how to get a second job that doesn’t make me want to die.”

🔹Smartphones are far more powerful than Raspberry Pi's or old laptops.
🔹Many of us already have cheap, unlimited 5G data plan and bandwidth.
🔹A 10GB pruned node is enough for 99.99% of people. You don't need all the block data from the past 15 years...
🔹Initial syncing speeds can already be dramatically increased with snapshots of pre-synced timechain data (see jaonoctus project).
🔹The node doesn't need to be always online, just when you're moving uxtos, it can quickly sync to the latest block, so battery is not an issue.

In 2008, faced with institutional failure and monetary abuse, someone with a poor choice of OS, limited programming ability, and a basic grasp of cryptographic primitives carved out a narrow escape route—one governed not by authority, but by thermodynamics and consensus. It wasn’t genius that gave Bitcoin its strength. It was the refusal to ask permission. It worked because it could not be stopped.
Nostr shares the same impulse. It is raw, principled, decentralised, and unowned. Its power does not come solely from its technical design, but from the ethic of those who use it—those who build without permission and speak without fear.
The need for such tools became inescapably clear during the pandemic, when a once-free civilisation chose compliance over conscience. Dissenting voices—many of them scientific, rational, and well-informed—were erased from public discourse. Had nostr existed at scale, the outcome might have been different.
Many believe Bitcoin’s progress means the danger has passed. I believe the opposite is true and that it's not time to let our guard down. If Bitcoin is the way out of monetary tyranny, nostr is the exit from informational control and the foundation of networked resistance. But we must remember: protocols are inert. It is not the tools that will save us. It is the will to build—and the courage to resist.

You are true.
For the "error" part it is not only about the purpose of a note.
But i also had some "network" problem. for example :
- Sometimes i can't like a post on primal (website), it just fail silently... idk why.
- Sometimes i can't zap someone else (perhaps the cashu wallet is not really connected or the one i want to zap don't allow it ? no error message)
- Sometimes it doesn't work anymore (i used to use coracle to manage relay, since few weeks it is completely unusable, coracle can't reach the network and is buggy, i can log but don"t see my notes, replies..., idk why, update, relay issues...).
Anyway #nostr advantages worth this because i am sure notes will stay here saved, without any algorithm trying to push them away.

I think its a matter of organizing the data streams.
I use Gossip desktop app for security and responsiveness (private key stays on local machine).
It allows me to put different people in different groups and groups can show all comments / replies of individuals or just main posts / notes.
This reduces noise dramatically. Focus is on what matters.

I’m curious what some of the differences you’ve noticed are? I’ve definitely felt the same thing but can’t always put on exactly what is different. Sometimes actual great content gets no attention and other times real basic shit blows up. Offering sats as rewards seems to work well but you lose a lot of the genuine interactions with all the bots. It sure is fun to watch this ecosystem figure itself out.

If you’re creating content for nostr, I encourage you to spend time experimenting and learning which approaches work and which ones don’t work. It will take trial and error, and you’ll find that some of the “content” that gets engagement on other social networks falls flat here. On most social media you are trying to appease an algorithm that is designed to sell advertising. On nostr you are making genuine connections with genuine people. Things can sometimes move a little more slowly around here, more like normal real world things do. Enjoy it and experiment and be real with people, and most importantly don’t give up. It’s worth it. 💜🚀

Memory Injection will be a major security problem in the future.
I feel like I remember scenes when I was a toddler. But the truth is that I only "remember" them because I have pictures of them. My mind creates a whole experience that I think it is true even though I know my mind couldn't have stored all that from that time.
With sufficient data from my friends, realistic memories can be injected through fake pictures that just show up with a past date in your Google Photos. Your mind will build an entire experience around them that never existed but you will think it is real as everything else.
Especially if it makes you look good and proud of yourself.
