Produced By Frontman/Guitarist David Gilmour & James Guthrie, The Album Was Recorded During The European Leg Of Pink Floyd's "Division Bell" Tour Between August 17 & October 23, 1994. The Album Is Notable For Including A Complete Live Version Of The Band's 8th Album "The Dark Side Of The Moon" (1973). It Also Features "Astronomy Domine", A Song Penned By Original Frontman/Guitarist Syd Barrett But Was Not Performed Since The Early 1970s. The 1979 Song "Another Brick In The Wall, Part II" Features Small Portions Of The Songs "Another Brick In The Wall, Part I", "The Happiest Days Of Our Lives" & "Another Brick In The Wall, Part III".
Unlike The Band's Previous Live Album "Delicate Sound Of Thunder" (1988), No Parts Of The Songs Were Re-Recorded In The Studio. However, The Band & James Guthrie Both Fixed Songs That Had Bad Notes (As Heard On Some Bootlegs) By Lifting Solos & Corrected Vocal Lines From Other Performances As The Band Recorded Most Of The European Leg. The Album Was Mixed In QSound, Which Produces A 3D Audio Effect Even On A 2-Channel Stereo System.
Spawning Only 1 Single: "Wish You Were Here (Live)" On July 20, 1995, "Pulse" Peaked @ Number 1 On The UK Singles (OCC) Chart, Becoming Certified Platinum By The BPI For Selling 349,428 Copies. In The US, Despite A Price Of $34.99 (Which Included Flashing Spine Light & 2 AA Batteries) "Pulse" Peaked @ Number 1 On The US Billboard 200 Chart During The Week Of June 24, 1995 With 198,000 Copies Sold, & Became The 1st Multidisc Album To Top The Billboard 200 Since The Chart Started Using SoundScan Data In May 1991. The Next Week It Fell Off To Number 3 On The Chart. It Remained On The Chart For 22 Weeks. It Was Certified 2x Platinum By The RIAA In The US On July 31, 1995 For Shipments Of 1,480,000 Copies.
