well this is a high power draw application so even perfectly healthy cells can trigger overheat protection in Florida sun.
this is actually why i went for a model with "peak power" ( it combines the power of two batteries ) - to lessen the draw on individual batteries.
i watched teardown videos and the fake pack that was being disassembled still had a thermal sensor inside which was encouraging.
although in the test the battery pack got too hot to touch so if they are using the sensors they aren't using it very aggressively.
my plan is simply not to mow so much at one time that it will have time to overheat.
internal resistance of cells shoots up right before they deplete which means that it will begin to REALLY overheat if you run it until its depleted but if you stop when it still has about 30% left my hope is it will be fine.
