Here's the first step on that path:
the Chip Security Act.
The bill was introduced by the U.S. Senator Tom Cotton on May 9, 2025. It mandates that U.S. chipmakers integrate location-tracking technology into export-controlled advanced chips, including those used in AI, HPC, and high-end gaming GPUs (e.g., Nvidia's GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 5090), within six months of enactment.
