I disagree.
Speaking of tenses, the past is gone you can reflect upon it and repent if necessary.
The future is known by God and what will happened is decreed.
The present is precious, it can be all what you have. So you may do for your thereafter as if today is your last day and do for your future as if you will live forever, as Ali said (son-in-law and cousin of prophet Mohamed peace be upon him).
Time is not easy to understand. God, Allah, defined himself as « Time ».
