I better understand the reasoning now, I don't agree with the logic. Agreeing to lift the default limit because "some unnamed people said they will spam less" is strangely obtuse and suspicious one would expect everyone to engage in naivety.
The argument hinges on a claim there is no remaining way to limit spam, and eliminating this limit will enable some potential unidentified use-case, and "we are against censorship because free speech". No matter how rational-sounding you package it, along with a tad ad hominem thrown in, does little to ease my Spidey sense.
