Joseph the New, born in 1568, exemplified humility and healing. Rejecting wealth, he embraced monasticism, serving selflessly. Once, a paralyzed man was carried to Joseph. The saint prayed fervently, anointed the man with oil from the lamp burning before an icon of the Mother of God, and the man was instantly healed. Joseph continued his life of prayer and service, becoming Metropolitan of Timişoara, guiding his flock with love until his death in 1656.
