The 250 million bees that escaped in Whatcom County were collected by over two dozen beekeepers who restored damaged hive boxes, allowing bees to return naturally, guided by scent and their queen. The process, which took up to 48 hours, involved rebuilding hives one by one. By May 31, 2025, most bees had returned, though some may have dispersed to form wild hives. Authorities advised avoiding the area for safety.
