Coinbase spends $6.2 million on Brian Armstrong's security, then pays overseas workers so little that they are easily bought off (my assumption). Their cybersec defenses didn't consider insider threats enough, even after being warned in late December by other exchanges of unusual activity targeting large clients. Now, 69,461 customers have to absorb the cost of increased security that Coinbase failed to provide. I am sorry if this affected you 🫂
I find it interesting that Binance and Kraken thwarted attempts. Binance defended themselves via AI detecting the language in Telegram, and I am guessing Kraken pays their employees enough, thus buying loyalty, that they didn't fall for the bribe. That is pure speculation, based on my general vibe of that exchange and its leaders. Note: I might be influenced by thinking it would be cool to work there ha.
