Watching the last season of The Office, and my husband and I keep reacting to how Jim and Pam keep hiding things from each other. Pam not sharing how she's feeling, and Jim making decisions without including her, even after he realizes that he'd missed it. I guess he didn't understand what it was that he'd actually missed.
Keeping secrets from a spouse, trying to spare their feelings, is a really stupid idea, and will result in distance and more conflict than if you trust that they can manage their own reactions, and that you sharing your feelings doesn't actually mean you're against what they wanna do, it's actually a way to open up the conversation and maybe find a way where you can both win!
