Antim the Ivirian, a Georgian slave, rose to become a Metropolitan in Wallachia. A master calligrapher, he revitalized Romanian printing and established the first Arabic press. He was a beacon of enlightenment, promoting education and translating religious texts. His commitment to justice and truth angered the Prince, leading to his exile and eventual martyrdom. He was drowned in the Tunari Lake in 1716.
