The problem with Bitcoin L2 and L3 solutions like Lightning and Cashu is that they have the same problem that the U.S under the silver and gold standards had: Overeliance on custodians.
Don't get me wrong, I like the concept of the LN and of a BTC standard, but at the end of the day, relying on custodial solutions will just harm the people who use the assets in the first place, whether it be by enriching elites or by seizure of property.
