You know what's ironic?
Take this as an attempt to provide some perspective, not an attack.
We, Arabs, Muslims, learn early on that the epitome of our civilization happened in 2 (sometime more) places. The first the golden age of the Abbasids, and the other is the first half of Muslim rule of Iberian peninsula.
The downfall of these two golden ages, we're taught, was because of outside forces. One come from the east, Mongols, and the other from west, Kindoms of Aragon and Castile (spelling?).
Sounds familiar?
When I was in Barcelona, I went to the history museum. I was looking for Spanish perspective of what we were taught. And I was absolutely surprised that the centuries of Islamic rule was almost none-existent. Most of it was the "reconquista" history, not much about the inquisition either. I kept wondering why. Looking for an explanation, asking people I meet there, reading... What have you. Until I figured out that it all runs against the narrative of the government would be the most logical explanation.
I invite you to look more into it, and try to find a different perspective. Maybe you're atheist, I don't know, and all religious rule is bad. Maybe you're catholic/Christian, I don't know, and Islam has always been the enemy. Either way, an anarchist, which I believe you are, correct me if I'm wrong, should always at least challenge the official perspective and history of the government.
Thanks for reading.
