Until the trains came along, every town had its own time. Scheduling was a disaster because you needed to print a schedule for each time.
Train time was invented to prevent trains from crashing head-on with each other.
In Canada, time zones were invented to coordinate the trains across the country (5 time zones).
We now have the same situation with local currency. Everyone wants to hold onto their local currency, but nothing stops the BTC train.
