As we celebrate Mother’s Day, we acknowledge women have been the life and blood of familes for decades. Nothing could be truer than for Tamara de Lempicka.
As a child, her mother Malvina came from a family of strong women. Her Grandmother, Clementyne Dekler raised the women of the family to be individual and independent. Malvina had great aspirations for her children, but she could have never anticipated the accomplishments of Tamara.
And today, Tamara often remembered as an artist, but was a mother herself. Her daughter Kizette, was not only her most inspiring and painted model, but she continued her mother’s legacy after her death by writing her memoirs, Tamara de Lempicka – Passion by Design.
Kizette’s daughter Victoria de Lempicka continued her mother's mission to share Tamara’s story with the world. Now, Victoria’s daughter, Marisa de Lempicka continues the legacy of her Great grandmother and is an ambassador to everyone around the world to share the story of Tamara de Lempicka, a woman who was passionate, intelligent, strong and changed the world forever.
Tamara’s portrait « Maternité » (1928) was one of the many paintings purchased by her future husband Baron Raoul Kuffner before he married her. It is one of her most intimate and sensitive paintings and reflects the true caring and nurturing that Mothers play in all our lives.
