Both of my parents were raised in Catholic environments so I've heard about their experiences with the Catholic church. However, they did not raise me in a strongly religious household even though each of them may have their own personal religious/philosophical beliefs.
My sister got baptized a few years ago as an adult in her thirties. I believe she is more along the lines of the Protestant faith (not 100% sure) where you decide when to get baptized.
I remember as a child my younger cousin who was raised Catholic was baptized as a baby in the church. I was only around 10 at the time, and this practice was strange and foreign to me.
People can have similar core beliefs of a certain kind, but go about life with different sets of practices. Just as an example, this can be seen in the Bitcoin community all of the time.
