The earth was flat until it wasn't.
The earth was the centre of the universe until it wasn't.
We always overestimate how smart we are today and assume our future selves will not attain a greater understanding than we do today.
I cannot argue with your assertion of the unbreakability of physical laws, but I couldn't have argued with your assertion that the earth was the centre of the universe centuries ago either, unless I was Galileo and wanted to remain under house arrest for the rest of my life.
