In the reign of Emperor Numerian, Donat, a reader, and Venust, were seized for their faith. Refusing to deny Christ, they were tortured. Their bodies were raked, and they were suspended. Remaining steadfast, they were beheaded in Rome. Their courage inspired many to embrace Christianity.
O Holy Martyrs Donat and Venust, intercede for us before Christ our God, that we may remain steadfast in faith and endure trials with courage.
