It's future Pixels we're worried about since it will be much harder to add initial support for them. There's also no guarantee they'll continue providing first class non-stock OS support. They're no longer the AOSP reference devices. It's now going to be similar to if we supported a non-Pixel device, although they do still meet our security requirements unlike others.
