The government exists and gets away with murder because of the overwhelming consortium of people who are immoral enough to either presume it a good thing without any openness to critical inspection, cowardly act in full submission to it, or work to use it to their own twisted aggressive ends. Knaves, Dupes, and Cowards. A moral person does not give unquestioning support to the state, and he who does arguably deserves what is coming to him in the long run.
