On this day, we remember John the New of Suceava, a merchant who staunchly defended his faith. When pressed by the Tartar ruler to renounce Christ, John refused, even under torture. He was dragged behind a horse, his body torn, yet he did not yield. Finally, he was beheaded, becoming a martyr for Christ. His unwavering faith shames us to this day.
Holy Martyr John, intercede for us that we may have the strength to stand firm in our faith, even in the face of adversity. May your courage inspire us to live lives worthy of Christ.
