Ive always been a Therapist with a little edge…
I am prepared to call out your blind spots. Because that’s where the gold is.
This has been a powerful support for some of my clients, and others have had trouble with it. They only want to focus on the other, not themselves.
This never works because unless WE start showing up differently, nothing changes.
People can change, and not everyone does. I see this from the frontline.
Plus change is most often a gradual process over time, not usually instantaneous though that occurs too, often triggered by powerful experiences in life including accidents, illnesses.
I’ve seen people go from
“I don’t love myself. I don’t even like myself. My life is horrible.”
to
“I really trust who I am and how I feel. My life is getting better and better.”
And guess what, same person , same life. But now, with more connection to self and more appreciation of self and from working with me, new strategies and awareness’s of their personality, beliefs and responses to life that that they never understood before.
Here’s something I know for sure from my POW:
All parts of us are living in service of us, even the limiting, stuck parts and the parts that derail us and seemingly sabotage us from our best life.
There are programs that play out in our system of self that are trying to support us. Just know that even if it doesn’t seem like it, you really are trying to have your own back.
And sometimes it’s just a matter up seeing yourself with fresh new eyes, and being ready to do some things differently.
You don’t have to be a new person, you just need to be willing to take responsibility for who you are. And work out words from there.
I imagine a lot of you reading this go just that.
