StartOS is free. You don't need to buy one of their devices. Same with UmbrelOS. Install them on just about anything you want.
I really don't recommend using your primary PC for Bitcoin stuff. A separate laptop or Lenovo ThinkCentre or something like that at minimum. Runnimg a node alongside doing your general computing and internet browsing is just begging for trouble.
I also would steer you away from using a Raspberry Pi for a Bitcoin node these days.
You will want at least 16GB of RAM and a 2TB+ SSD at minimum (ideally 4TB), and much more than that if you are doing anything else but running a node on the device (not recommended).
RAM is one of the big bottlenecks for syncing the blockchain. You also need plenty of RAM for storing the UTXO set to quickly validate transactions and new blocks as they come in.
