Speaking of “The Gold Standard” - the film Elevation on HBO is so good. You know me, I love the world-building in this film. The movie was filmed on location in Gold Hill, Colorado - an unincorporated community with a pop. on only 218. It’s nestled in the mountainside above Left Hand Canyon. And hence the name, this is where gold was first discovered during the historic Colorado Gold Rush of 1859.
The setting of Elevation is a dystopian America, inside the tiny fictional community of “Lost Gulch Refuge”- only 5% of the world’s population is alive and can only reside in the high mountaintops and elevations over 8000 feet.🇺🇸🔝⛰️🌎
The other 95% of the world’s population who could not get up the mountains and elevated terrain fast enough were decimated within a month by alien beasts that ascended from the depths below. 👽👾⬇️
The creatures cannot go above 8000 feet. There is a line on the ground marked at 8000 feet and no one can cross that line not even by an inch. Also, all animals on earth are alive and thriving in the lower parts of the planet - the aliens coexist with all wildlife. But actively seek and destroy any signs of human life.🫂😬🥤🍿🎬📺
