I imagine there are plenty of posers masquerading as the real deal alongside legitimate instances of magnetoreceptive people.
I think the laws against psychedelics are meant to prevent people from having functioning “guru radar”. If you could just look at a person’s aura and be like “Daaamn! Homey’s lit up like a search and rescue helicopter floodlight! I gotta go see what this master has to teach!” it would put all the charlatans out of business. The people running the ship, as we know, are oftentimes some of the biggest charlatans acting on the planet today so it makes sense why they wouldn’t want the voters to have “guru radar”.
As for hippies being gurus, again, I’m sure there have been some legitimately enlightened people but many are probably LARPing.
