What if it is just public channel, what does it matter?
- A lot of scammers writing off band masking as support. (Some E2E messengers don't allow to write DMs to group members)
- Doxxing, archiving and blackmail is real.
- Giving all this information to third party (Discord, Telegram) instead of just your customers, who might get hacked, might use it, or might be compelled by law to doxx the users due to "law enforcement" (IP addresses, login credentials, content of messages)
- Breaking assumptions on who can read it - messages archived can be read by other people who join in the future.
And often it is not public, there is gatekeeping for customers only. But even in case it is public, it is a bad idea.
