The governer did not consent and the marines should not have been deployed even if they did.
Enforcing state laws (e.g. vandalism, arson) are the duty of the state, not the federal, government.
But even if the courts agreed that this was legal, my point still stands. The military was deployed to American soil to deal with American protesters. So it might be wise to pay attention to the people who were correct in their previous predictions.
