Good morning #nostriches. We went for a hike and an off trail scramble yesterday evening in Gregory Canyon. We basically just went up the north side of the canyon, crossed a bunch of cliff bands to the top of the canyon to the west, and then made our way down the south side to meet back up with the trail. The best part was when we stopped at a rocky point, and looked across the drainage where there was a black bear strolling through the grass and eating - perhaps flowers, not sure, the blueberries and choke cherries haven’t really formed yet. It was nice because when we usually see a bear, we see their rump as they are running away - they hear or see us first. This time, the bear was totally relaxed, meandering across the hillside. It eventually made it up to a rocky outcropping with some ponderosa pines and sat down, scratching its ear with its back paw. After about ten minutes of taking a bath, combing its belly hair with its front paw and the like, it settled down all curled up, resting its head on its front paws. It was about eight pm, so it was time for us to head home and get to sleep too. What a blessing.
