Ah, so you agree that elections can make a change but it doesn't happen eventually of external factors. Well, i agree with that. The best example ever is the spanish civil war that followed the win of the anarchists and the left.
Still not voting for change (if there is such a choice to vote) is consent to the status quo. Otherwise they wouldn't have made such an enormous propaganda mechanism so that you vote the "correct" parties. This is what i think at least and yes democracy disadvantages, mentioned as early as the first democracy
