✍️ Western quolls and brushtail possums, once extinct in the Ikara-Flinders Ranges national park, are thriving 10 years after their reintroduction.
--
👉 The western quoll is a carnivorous marsupial that scavenge carrion and eat insects, birds, eggs, reptiles, and baby rabbits.
👉 The quolls are about 800g to 1.2kg for females and up to 2.5kg for males.
👉 The brushtail possums used to be common but are thought to have become extinct in the 1940s.
👉 The reintroduction was part of the Bounceback program and the Foundation for Australia's Most Endangered Species.
👉 The quolls are now breeding in safer havens in the national park, where feral animals have been reduced.
