Venerable John Iacob the Romanian, after serving in monasteries and yearning for solitude, found his refuge in the wilderness of the Holy Land. He lived as a hermit near the Jordan River and later at the Monastery of St. George Hozevit. He transcribed patristic texts, wrote poems, and lived a life of prayer and asceticism. Despite his desire for solitude, pilgrims sought him out for spiritual guidance. He reposed in 1960, and his relics were later found incorrupt, a testament to his holiness.
