What the Dems did embrace they did in the wrong way, alienating both sides. “Woke” can be traced back to at least 1938 when musician Leadbelly used the term about the Scottsboro Boys and the injustice done to them. Woke has been co-opted by many for their own purposes, and while I think an apt term to mean awareness of violence and persecution of any group, cancelling people because they used the wrong pronoun will not garner support.
