It's a useless biased fiat mental model:
Everyone knows a bit is a 0 or 1,
And a sat or satoshi in the smallest unit used by bitcoin.
Nobody knows how to count sats using bitcoin as a unit, millisats and microsats, that some call bits for no logical reason, still leave you with decimals and that sucks.
To make things worse, the Lightning network uses millisats so go figure that there are 100000 millisats in a bit!
People who can't figure out that Bitcoin's unit is the sat and that it lines up beautifully with the metric system (millisats, sats, kilosats, megasats) are either retards or British!
FYI: 1ksats~= $1, 1Msats~=$1000, 1btc=100Msats, etc...
