A fascinating though about WOT on #nostr
For this who have been active here for a while, we have had series of bot spam attacks. As a result, the rise of WOT relays, client side filtering, purgatory by nostrband etc sprung up.
With new spam attacks, OGs are less bothered because they easily have the tools to combat and can easily communicate to other members of their Web of trust. To an outsider, this would seem insane because it would appear as a bot infested platform.
So in a way, looking at the bright side, the frequent unslaught of bots could be a good thing. They act as a protective barrier to the network. Doesn't help with onboarding new users though. But the greatest benefit is the improved decentralized web of trust in an internet that is increasingly becoming centralized as a result of AI slop and attention grabbing distractions.
