About the BTC x sat naming issue : Can BTC be the only mainstream money in the world? An order of magnitude of value (market cap) of US$ 100tr = US$ 100e15 is needed.
To cover small transactions subunits are needed, at least 10x more ==> 1000 trillion “cents”, i.e., 1 quadrillion sats = 1e18 sats.
But the number of sats is only 21M BTC * 100M sats/BTC = 2.1e15 = 2,1 trillions sats
Another way: If BTC were the only monetary unit of the world, all the 21M BTC would need to be worth US$ 100tn. Thus, each sat would be worth 100e15/2,1e15 =~ US$ 47. That is too large to be used for small transactions.
A solution would be an additional layer where one sat would be exchanged by 1000 milisat. Then: one milisat = US$ 0.047.
Yeah, BTC needs to grow A LOT before this problem even appears. It is just sci-fy today.
