Back in March of 2022, I sold everything I owned and moved to Cuba. Why? I had joined a friend in supporting the Cuban people. Particularly bringing in basic medical supplies and medication. I watched my friend Heimi suffer with bone Cancer at age 17. She was already in University and spoke excellent English and German. As things progressed, there was little to do as the medical system literally has no supplies or medicine. After she recovered from the amputation of her leg, Heimi and her mom an Aunt visited me in Santa Fe. She loved swimming in the ocean, so I put here on the back of my bicycle and went to the beach. As she got close to the water the sand was impossible for her to walk thru on crutches. So I scooped her up and carried her into the water. We had a wonderful time talking and laughing. She didn't want to get out. She lived quite far from the sea. She passed away a few months later. Thank you Heimi for enriching my life and my spirit. You were hands down the best domino partner ever. We all miss you. I know you are with me at this moment.
