US President Donald Trump stated that an Israeli attack on Iran 'is not imminent, but it could very well happen' amidst growing tensions in the Middle East. Despite the statement, Trump said he does not support an offensive. 'I don't want Israel to attack Iran', he said, emphasizing that a confrontation now could 'ruin everything' in the ongoing diplomatic negotiations. 'I prefer the friendlier path', he declared at an event at the White House on Thursday. Trump said he is committed to reaching an understanding with Tehran, and stated that the US is close to doing so. 'The agreement with Iran will happen soon. We have excellent conversations with them.' However, he warned that 'there is a chance of a massive conflict' in the Middle East and that 'something could happen very soon'. The President said Iran will have to give in on sensitive points. 'Iran will have to give up things they don't want right now and will have to negotiate with us more firmly', he said. Trump reiterated that his stance on the nuclear issue remains unchanged: 'Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.' On the Ukraine-Russia conflict, Trump criticized the delay in reaching an agreement. 'Russia and Ukraine will make an agreement, but I'm disappointed it hasn't happened yet. This agreement could have been made a long time ago', he said. Trump also stated his support for foreign students in the country. 'I've always been in favor of foreign students, including Chinese students. I'm in favor of Chinese students staying here in the country.' He also commented on the Air India plane crash, describing it as 'one of the worst aviation accidents in history'.
